          SANDING

 

   Why people would need sanding? well, the main reason sanding is required in Auto Body is because we have to sand down the layers of paint were the damage was done so that we can reaply the paint, after repairing the dent that was made during the accident, so that when the new paint is reaplied it has the same flim thickness (thinkness of the paint) as the old layer and look brand new.

  Dent pair? probably the hardest part about repairing a damaged vehicle because you have to make sure the metal lines up PERFECTLY with the original surface of metal because if its not even the paint thickness will be off dramatically and you will be able to see this imperfection from a mile away and it will be ugly.

      REFINISHING
 
   My favorite part, the painting process. its a little difficult because before you paint you have to make sure you have the correct mixing ratios for your paint so that the primer, or color, or clear coat comes out of the gun and atomizes (breaking down the paint) the correct way to spray the right way and have a clean paint job. You also have to make sure that your technique is perfected, for example. no swaying of the wrist when spraying, overlap the paint 75% each time you drop down a little to cover the panel. and make sure your atleast 5-7 inches away from your panel with the gun tip horizontal to your surface that you are painting because youll get orange peel or a defected surface when you are finished. make sure you clean your gun after you paint also.
